White lumps in the feces of the baby

Normally, in an infant who is breastfed by the mother, the feces are uniform, yellowish with an acidic odor, up to 6 times a day. With artificial feeding it is light brown, more dense. For the bowel movements, the mother's baby should be regularly observed, since the presence of impurities in them, such as mucus and white lumps in the feces of the baby, indicates a disturbance in the digestive system.

Why did white lumps appear in the feces of the baby?

Quite often the mother can notice in the feces of the baby the undigested white lumps resembling cottage cheese. If the child feels well, adds weight and has no diarrhea, then often this is only a symptom of overeating. Moreover, white lumps in the feces of the infants on artificial feeding appear more often than on the breast, as not all mixtures are equally well digested by the child.

Mucous and other impurities in feces

  1. If not only white impurities appear in the stool, but also mucus, blood and foam, the feces change color, and the child has diarrhea - these are signs of a bacterial infection of the digestive tract.
  2. White lumps, reminiscent of a boiled egg, in green feces with mucus - this is also a sign of intestinal dysbiosis.
  3. Mucous impurities with lumps in the feces may appear and with the beginning of the introduction of complementary foods, but normally after a couple of days they disappear. Often, to normalize the stool, it is enough simply to reduce the amount of complementary feed and increase the volume more slowly.
  4. Less often in children of the first year of life white grains in feces turn out to be worms. Pinworms , which resemble white threads up to 5-10 mm long and often move independently in the stool, appear due to insufficient care and violation of hygiene rules.

With any pathological impurities, frequent stools, worsening of the general conditions of the child, you should immediately consult a doctor, as bacterial infections of the intestines in infants can very quickly lead to dehydration and severe condition of the child.
