Apathy to everything - what to do?

The concept of apathy is often confused and mistakenly called depression. In fact, apathy arises as a harbinger or as a consequence of depression. The state of apathy is unwillingness to do anything, with the full realization that it is absolutely necessary.

Characteristics of the disease

When a person develops apathy towards life, it is very difficult not to notice others. There is a complete suppression of mental and physical activity - the patient does not want to think, does not feel emotion , will not get up again from bed. Disappear interests, aspirations, goals. This condition can be characterized by the famous quote "No one is going anywhere".

Full fatigue and apathy can occur after the illnesses (including common colds), beriberi, after operations, as well as with mental illnesses. Prolonged apathy is a signal that it is time to turn to a psychologist and be examined.

In addition, apathy is a normal (but undesirable) phenomenon when a person does not live by rhythm. Lack of sleep, work exhausting all human resources, prolonged psychological stress (for example, if the work is related to the responsibility for the lives of many), as well as physical exhaustion. Complete apathy - this is just a signal from the body, which blatantly asks you to let it catch your breath.

By the way, in the Ukrainian language until 1920 (the time of the publication of the Russian-Ukrainian medical dictionary) there was no term of apathy. Ukrainian Vіkіpedіya says that instead of the term "apatia" the Ukrainian word "bajduzhist" was used, which means - "indifference".

What to do?

It is clear that for a long time in such a state can not be stretched. Therefore, when apathy occurs to everything, the question of what to do arises from any strong-willed person who wants to take himself quickly into his hands.

A big mistake is to pile up more work, more loads and knock out a "wedge with a wedge." In fact, this behavior will only lead to further depression.

  1. Take, at least, a day off.
  2. It is necessary to sleep.
  3. All day, do what only you like, and has no "world" benefit.
  4. Deliciously eat (without thinking about excess weight), take a bath with essential oils, go to a beauty salon or spa, buy yourself a gift, which has long been dreamed of.
  5. Make a plan for your dreams and promise yourself to realize them gradually.
  6. When you relax, think about what is wrong in your daily routine, make adjustments, because there is always a way out.
  7. Start taking vitamins .
  8. If apathy has arisen because of disgust for work, a "burnout", a complete loss of interest in this activity - will have to change jobs.
  9. If you have the opportunity, take a vacation for more global measures, but not sick leave.
