What will interest the tourist Avenue of baobabs?

The baobab alley is located between the cities of Madagascar Murundava and Belony Tsiribikhin. In fact, this is a section of a dirt road 260 m long, along which about 25 of these huge trees grow.

Baobabs in the valley belong to the species Adansonia grandidieri and are endemic to Madagascar - they can be found only on the island. In height, the trees reach 30 m. Their exact age is difficult to determine, because baobabs do not have annual rings. However, scientists suggest that their crowns rise above the earth from 800 to 1000 years.

In themselves, the trees are located separately from each other, alternating with voids. However, this was not always the case - it is believed that once around the green forest was tropical, which eventually was cut down for the sake of creating rice fields. By the way, the same fate was threatened directly by the baobabs, but at first they were left as a source of livelihood for animals, and since 2007 this territory has acquired the status of nature protection.
