Madumu


The Republic of Namibia , like some other states of the African continent, increasingly attracts the attention of sophisticated tourists. In the era of technology and the multiple increase in the technical equipment of all spheres of human life, one is not enough - a real nature. In Namibia, only about 17% of the entire territory is protected by the state: parks, reserves and recreation - this is over 35.9 thousand square meters. km. Features of the park

The Madumu National Park was officially established in 1990. Territorially it is located on the coast of the river Kvando in the region of Eastern Caprivi of the same name area. The total area of ​​the park is 1009 square meters. km are marshes and savannas, forests and wide green floodplains along the river.

Precipitation in the park falls a lot: an average of 550 to 700 mm per year, the peak months are January and February. Inundated coastal zones and floods are observed periodically. Despite significant humidity, natural spontaneous fires from lightning occur in the Madumu Park every year. It should be noted that the entire territory is a zone of high risk of malaria.

The park has absolutely no fences, just like the gate, and the park's employees work closely with border farmers, conducting only a conditional line of separation. The territory of Madumu is an important stage for the migration of wild species from neighboring states. Local safaris are only possible on an all-wheel drive car and accompanied by a minimum of two rangers. As well as in other national parks in Namibia, it is forbidden to develop a speed of more than 60 km / h.

Flora and fauna of Madumu Park

Ample flood meadows, forests on the coast and thickets of papyrus attract elephants and black buffalo, rarely found in the territory of Namibia. Also in the park you can see giraffes, black antelopes and canna, zebras, water poles.

The Madumu National Park is rarely found on the list of popular parks in Namibia. Growing here many kinds of vegetation, dense and dense, and the abundance of water bodies attracts to these lands a lot of birds and elephants. On the territory of the park there are 430 species of feathered inhabitants, the most prominent of which are the Pacific White Egret, the Swamp Warbler, the Shport Cuckoo, the African eagle, etc. In summer, extensive migration of species can be observed.

On the territory of the park there is a single private house, Lianshulu Lodge. Here stop at night and dine both group tours, and single tourists accompanied.

Employees of the park is recommended after sunset (about 18:00) to stop possible movement to avoid a collision with the local inhabitants. Permission is required for driving through the park and the surrounding area.

How to get to Madumu?

Prior to Namushasha River Lodge, the nearest residential area to the park, you can fly from any airport in the country. Then you should buy a tour in the group or individually.
