Breeding of Sumatran barbs

Sumatran barbs combine a special attraction, endurance and ease of reproduction in an aquarium. That is why this type of fish is the best choice for both experienced and novice aquarists. At the same time, in order for them to start showing a desire to multiply, it is enough for them to create good conditions of detention and to eat well.

How to grow Sumatran barbs?

Spawning of Sumatran barbs assumes, first of all, the presence of a spacious aquarium in which it will be possible to place a large number of fry. It should provide pebbles or small-leaved plants on the bottom, in which eggs can be hidden, as well as cabomba plants and spawning panicles.

Several days before the spawning of the Sumatran barbs producers should be seated in different ponds and introduce into their diet proteinaceous fodders that will promote spawning. And after the male and female Sumatran borbas meet in the spawning aquarium, the temperature in it should be raised to 26 ° C. This will be the trigger for spawning, and within a few hours the female will spawn. But after the termination of spawning, parents should be removed so that they do not start eating their own eggs. The temperature of the water in the aquarium should be maintained at a given level and then about a day later the larvae hatched from the calf. At this time it is important to protect the aquarium from direct sunlight and make a change of water to fresh (in an amount of 30% of the total).

Literally in five days already spawning fry of Sumatran barbs will appear in the spawning ground, which will immediately need to be fed. They are fed with live dust, artemia, infusoria. As the fry grows, they should be transplanted into more spacious water bodies, gradually transferred to a larger feed and lowered the temperature regime.
