The main symbol of the Japanese city of Kanazawa is the ancient Canroku-en garden. The park is remarkable for its unprecedented beauty and harmony, it is one of the most unique buildings not only in Japan, but also in the whole world.
Creation of the powerful clan Maeda
Kenroku-en was laid in 1676 by the rich family of Maeda as the inner garden of Kanazawa Castle . For a long time the park was hidden from the eyes of ordinary people. The descendants of the Maeda clan modernized and improved individual plots until 1868. However, in our days work on the arrangement of the garden is still going on. Public visits to Kenroku-en began in 1875 and were absolutely free. In 1976, the entrance fee was charged. All these funds are spent on the improvement of the park.
