The history of the Church of All Saints
The Church of All Saints is distinguished by a significant historical, architectural and religious value. Originally, the church building was erected as a railway station (Mortuari station) in the cemetery of Rukwood, New South Wales. Works on the erection of it were conducted under the direction of one of the most worthy architects of Australia of that time - James Barnet.
On the wall of the Church of All Saints there is a memorial plaque, opened by Lord Carrington on June 1, 1958, in honor of the ceremony of consecration of the church.
Architectural features of the church
The Church of All Saints is a small building, but it does not begrudge its fame and significance. Architectural neo-Gothic style is admired. The holy walls of the temple are expertly decorated with windows with stained glass elements and traditionally sculptures. One of the stained glass paintings was part of the English church in Gloucestershire, which was defeated during the Second World War. On the outer walls on the side of the facade are statues of gargoyles. On all sides, the Church of All Saints is surrounded by a marvelous garden, and on the east side is a beautiful columbarium.
The halls of the church impress with their splendor. There is always a calm, comfortable and warm atmosphere. On the walls on the inside are two decorative stone angels. On either side of the altar there are two side chapels. One of them is dedicated to the Garden of Gethsemane, the other is dedicated to the Holy Mother of God.
Despite the fact that the church is considered urban, it is attended by parishioners from all areas of Canberra, as well as from the closest regions.
