Space has always been and remains today one of the most mysterious mysteries of mankind. His deepest distances attracted to him the researchers of all generations, the starry sky fascinates with its beauty, and the stars from ancient times were faithful guides for travelers. Therefore it is not surprising that the Day of Astronautics is a very popular and popular holiday.

When celebrate Cosmonautics Day?

Cosmonautics Day was officially established in April 1962 in honor of the first orbital flight of man around the Earth. This significant event occurred on April 12, 1961, the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin stayed in near-Earth space for a little more than a hundred minutes and forever entered his name and this flight into world history. By the way, the idea of ​​the holiday was offered by the second USSR pilot-cosmonaut German Titov.

In the future, April 12 was not only the Day of Astronautics. In 1969, the International Aviation Federation appointed on April 12 the World Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics. And in 2011, this day was also the International Day of Human Spaceflight on the initiative of the UN General Assembly. Under the resolution, officially confirming this fact, more than sixty states have signed.

In Russia, as a sign of respect and in honor of the anniversary date (fifty years since the significant Yuri Gagarin's flight), 2011 was named the year of Russian cosmonautics.

Events for the Day of Astronautics

On the day of cosmonautics, all the schools have themed class clocks, excursions, thematic talks, sports competitions, children's art contests and concerts.

Various interesting events are held in museums, libraries and houses of culture.

After Gagarin's flight, almost all Soviet boys dreamed of becoming cosmonauts, it was one of the most romantic and revered professions. All inquiring minds and ardent hearts dreamed of traveling to distant stars, conquering planets and heroic deeds.

Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin became a national hero, he was admired and tried to imitate. But along with this, Gagarin was simple, open, kind and very hardworking. He grew up in a working family, experienced all the horrors of the Patriotic War, saw examples of the courage of ordinary soldiers as a child and grew up as a strong, purposeful person.

Yuri Gagarin was a very active person and lived a busy life. He graduated from the Saratov Industrial College and was enthusiastically engaged in the Saratov Aeroclub. In 1957, Yuri Alekseevich married and then became the father of two remarkable daughters. Then life brought him with another great man - the famous designer SP. The Queen.

In March 1968, the first cosmonaut of the world died during the training flight in severe weather conditions. Until now, this tragic accident is surrounded by myths and secrets. According to the official version, Gagarin's plane and Colonel Seryogin entered a tailspin, and the pilots did not have enough height to get out of it: "Mig-15" crashed in the forest of the Vladimir region. But many experts arose a lot of questions, and they, unfortunately, most likely already will remain unanswered.

In memory of the cosmonaut, the city of Gzhatsk was renamed Gagarin. Also, next to the landing site of Gagarin after the first flight into space, a memorial complex was installed.

The World Cosmonautics Day is dedicated not only to Gagarin himself, but to all those people who were involved in this significant event, to all workers of the space industry, astronomers, researchers and scientists. All these people daily bring us one more small step to unraveling the mysterious mystery - the vast cosmos.
