Crafts for Pancake week for your children

In Russia, from time immemorial, winter was accompanied by long merry parties. Both children and adults eagerly awaited the Maslenitsa week and the main holiday, symbolizing the beginning of spring - Shrovetide.

Throughout this week every day there were noisy and amusing street festivities, everyone was riding a sleigh and building all kinds of snow fortresses and castles, and at the very end the residents gathered in the same place and burned a stuffed winter, sending it on its last journey.

Since the arrival of spring is always associated with the bright sun, the main symbol of Pancake week is a round ruddy pancake. This food in antiquity during the Shrovetide week was cooked daily, and not only they ate themselves, but also constantly invited and treated the guests.

Of course, today Maslenitsa is celebrated not on such a scale as in ancient times. Nevertheless, in most houses on a festive week, you can meet delicious pancakes, and on the last day many people, especially children, take part in merry parties with pleasure.

It is very important for young children to explain what a Shrovetide festival is, and what symbols are associated with it, because ancient traditions must be passed on from generation to generation. In particular, so that the child can experience the trends of the past, often on Pancake week they make interesting handicrafts with their own hands, while simultaneously telling the child about the traditions and customs of antiquity.

In addition, in most schools and kindergartens on the eve of this holiday, various exhibitions and contests are held, during which the child can demonstrate his talent and artistic abilities. In this article, we bring to your attention the ideas of original handmade items for Shrovetide for children, which you can make with your own hands from improvised materials.

Crafts for children on the theme "Maslenitsa"

In hand-made articles for the Maslenitsa holiday, the theme of the bright spring sun, which in ancient times was called Yaril, is always reflected for the youngest children. To make this magnificent symbol of coming spring it is possible from ordinary threads for knitting, serpentine, color paper and any other materials.

For example, you can cut a circle of thick cardboard, make a hole in the center and wind it with threads of yellow color, and distribute their remainders to the same size "rays" and band them with bright satin ribbons. To such Yaril it would be superfluous to make a mouth, a nose and eyes from small pieces of colored paper.

In addition, you can color the cardboard circle in yellow, and make holes not in the center, but at its edges. Through these holes you have to stretch out ribbons or thin strips of colored paper and form "rays" from them. The smiling face of the Sun can also be made from pieces of colored paper glued to the cardboard with glue or double-sided scotch tape. The smallest crumbs with pleasure will sculpt a smiling Sun from plasticine, draw with its colors or perform a simple but bright and original application on this subject.

No less popular is another hand-made pancake for children - a home-doll-Shrovetide, which since ancient times is considered a very powerful amulet. There is a huge number of different ways to perform such a toy with your own hands. Most often, the figure itself is made schematically, using a thick fabric, cotton wool, hay, straw or thick threads as the main material. After that, from unnecessary rags or specially selected material, clothes are sewn for the pupa and adorned to their own taste.

Finally, boys and girls can also be attracted to the creation of the well-known stuffed pancake week. On the last day of the Maslenitsa week, the children will be pleased to participate in the process of its firing and will drive around it cheerful and noisy dances.
