Lichnis - growing from seeds

Flowers lichnis are more familiar to the majority under the name "soap" or "Tatar soap". And in fact, the roots and flowers of the plant lichenis are softer, thanks to which it was used before for washing. The perennial flower has high straight stems and spherical inflorescences, consisting of small flowers of scarlet, orange, crimson, lilac or white. Those flower growers, who like these modest flowers, will be interested to learn how to grow licnis from seeds.

Planting and care for him

Lichnis grows almost everywhere. Flowers are not particularly demanding on growing conditions, but for successful cultivation it is important to choose a place for planting. The following factors should be considered:

Cultivation of seed from seed

Reproduction of licnice occurs by seeds and by dividing the bush. Terry species can also be propagated by cuttings. Individual varieties of flower culture multiply and self-sowing. When growing licnis from seeds, sowing in open ground is carried out from April to June. Before sowing, it is recommended to apply sand (preferably river water) to the soil for a bucket of 1 m². In clay soil, it is desirable to add humus or compost . For seedling, the seeds are sown in boxes in March. After sowing, the containers are placed in a cool place. After two to three weeks, the seedlings are transferred to a room with a temperature of +18 ... +20 degrees. When the seedling grows up, it is planted in the chosen place. Blossoming plantings only for the next year.

Caring for

The plant needs regular watering, especially in dry hot weather. But you should not allow the stagnation of moisture, the result of which can be rotting roots. Lichnis needs fertilizing with mineral fertilizers , which are introduced approximately once a month, until the perennial develops. In autumn, the plant is pruned to the root, but a shelter for the winter cold-resistant flower is not required.

After 5 years of growth in one place, the plant should be transplanted. The fact is that over time, the flowers of lichnis begin to grow smaller, and the inflorescence becomes less lush. To do this, in August, the rhizomes are excavated, divided and placed on a prepared plot.
