Day of the photographer

Traditionally the day of the photographer is celebrated on July 12. This date coincides with the day of Saint Veronica, who is considered the patroness of people with such enthusiasm. In July there are so many holidays that even the days of the month are not enough.

The date of the photographer's day was determined and approved by the Pope at the time when the first photographs appeared, and people learned to capture faces and moments on paper and film. However, this happened a couple of millennia from that significant event, which determined the patroness of this hobby.

The Bible tells us about a woman named Veronica, who dared to give a piece of clean cloth to Golgotha Christ, so that he could erase from the face the fruits of suffering. The sweat and blood left on the cloth, and became the first "photograph" of the face of Christ.

Josep Nisefort Niepce became the founder of photography when he made his first photograph called "View from the Window". The shooting process lasted almost 8 hours and was performed in black and white. Photos with different colors appeared only in the middle of the XIX century, and the way of their creation was extremely complicated and laborious. For this purpose, several cameras with red, blue and green color filters were installed, a picture was taken, and then the images were superimposed on each other.

It is interesting that the International Day of the photographer coincides with the day of the birth of the founder of the world-famous Kodak Corporation, whose products have enjoyed unprecedented demand among consumers for many years.
