Embroidery with a tapestry suture

Tapestry is a three-dimensional embroidery, which looks very impressive and expensive.

Today we will learn the technique of tapestry embroidery. Many craftsmen note that embroidery with a tapestry suture is given easier and faster than embroidery with a cross, and the result is not less beautiful.

Materials for embroidery tapestry seam

Tapestry seam is very dense, so this technique is not used on thin fabric. It is best to begin to buy special kits for this embroidery, with a dense canvas or cloth.

There are several types of tapestry embroidery, and, accordingly, stitches. We will consider two of them, the most popular ones. For one species, it is sufficient to choose a dense canvas for embroidery and a long needle with a wide eye and a blunt point. The second method, embroidered with loops, requires a special needle and loose coarse tissue.

Here such a needle is needed for the second version of the tapestry embroidery loop.

The thread in any case should be very dense: either thick woolen threads for the carpet, or a floss in 6-7 additions.

Types of seams tapestry: master class

Embroidery with a tapestry stitch is quite simple in execution, but requires accuracy and patience, because all the stitches fit tightly to each other and should be the same size. Each stitch is essentially a semicircle.

1. Pass the needle and thread into the upper corner of the square and pull it out from the diagonally opposite corner of the square.

It is in the direction of the stitch that the difference between the "semi-cross" seam and the seam of the gobelin seam lies. The semi-crest goes from bottom to top, from the lower left corner to the upper right, the seam tapestry goes from the upper right to the lower left corner.

2. The next stitch also starts from the upper right corner to the bottom left corner.

3. The result is a beautiful dense series of "strokes":

4. The next row can be embroidered from the right to the left, the main thing is to observe the basic rule of the stitch, that is, to sew diagonally from top to bottom.

From the underside of the product should look no less accurate than on the front side.

Technique of embroidery tapestry loop

It looks like a loop with a loop like this:

For this technique of embroidery tapestry stitch requires a special needle.

It has a long point with a slot:

And a very thick round eyelet for the thread:

The thread is inserted like this:

A knot is made on the tip of the thread.

The needle is stuck into the fabric (in our case it is still the same hard canvas) to the very foot. A knot on the thread will not allow it to pass to the opposite side, but the needle will pull the thread out so that a loop is formed on the back side.

On the reverse side (in fact, this will be the face) looks like this:

Do not stretch the thread behind the needle, but slightly hold it down, so that the formed loop does not slip to the wrong side. The needle is gently "held" through the tissue until the next puncture, which is done very close to the first.

From the underside turns neat path, and on the front side - eyelets.

In several rows this seam creates a kind of carpet:
