Pharmacological abortion (chemical, medicamental) is a method of abortion with the help of medicines, which does not require surgical manipulation.
Description and methodology of farm-abortion
Pharmaceutical abortion is performed at the gestational age of up to 6 weeks. The effectiveness of the method is about 95-98%. The method of abortion includes two stages.
- At the first stage, an anamnesis is taken, an examination of the pregnant woman and ultrasound is performed, after which the patient takes Mifepristone. This drug of a steroid nature blocks the effect of progesterone , as a result of which the connection of the embryo with the endometrium is broken, and the contractility of the uterine muscles is increased.
- At the second stage (after two days), the patient is given Mizoprostol, as a result of which the uterus shrinks forcefully, and the fetal egg is expelled outward. The doctor monitors the process with the help of ultrasound.
At both stages the patient is observed by the medical staff every two hours. Control ultrasound is performed two days after a chemical abortion. After one or two weeks, repeat ultrasound and gynecological examination.
