Legends

The Holi Colors Festival has several origins. One of the legends tells of the evil goddess Holik, who decided to kill Vishu, the god of the guardian of the universe. She persuaded him to make a self-sacrifice in the name of good, offering to burn together at the stake, while the evil lady herself possessed the gift that protected her from the flame. And yet, according to legend, Vishu was saved, and Holika was burned at the stake. Since that time on this holiday they make her stuffed and burn.

Also, the history of the holiday of paints of Holi in India is associated with the legends about Krishna. And the tradition of celebration is associated with the pastimes of Krishna and the gopis (the shepherdess girls are the forerunners of the spring).
