How to equip the garage?

Garage is a multifunctional premise that serves as a "shelter" for a family car, all kinds of tools, and sometimes old things that it's a pity to throw out. That is why when you make it up, you need to maximize the use of free space and make the most of it. Shelves, built-in wardrobes, recesses and racks - all this should fit organically into the design of the room and do not interfere with the movement of the garage . In addition, the room should be provided with a viewing hole for the car, a workbench for storing tools and many other useful things. So, how to properly equip the garage inside and how to organize storage space? About this below.

Organization of the order

First of all, the workshop must be equipped here. It should contain all the necessary tools, parts from the car, the remains of materials, etc. In the workshop area you can use:

  1. Inserts-organizers . Special boxes for storing small parts (bolts, nuts, wires) and tools. Thanks to the organizers in your garage there will always be an order and you can quickly find the thing you need.
  2. Stands . Here you can place large tools and organizer boxes. Stands can be equipped with all kinds of metal holders, hooks and magnetic compartments for storing iron parts.
  3. Shelves . If you are just starting to master the garage, then thanks to the hinged shelves you can quickly and inexpensively organize the order. Shelves can be easily made by hand, so they are an ideal option for the first time.
  4. Metal workbench . All repairs are done behind it, so it should be organized as conveniently as possible. Try to find a model that combines the work surface with shelves / shelving. So you can place tools near the workplace, which saves time spent searching for the right part.

Tip: place a fluorescent light over the worktop of the workbench. It will best illuminate the working area.

In the garage there is also a zone, which is rarely used by anyone. It is located above the car, that is, in fact, it is the ceiling of the garage. Here you can use hanging shelves or racks . In this area, you can store tools and things that rarely get: corners, shovels and rakes, ropes and even skis. The only thing to remember is that everything must be fixed as firmly as possible, otherwise falling will damage the car.

Arrangement of inspection pit

If you have the opportunity to use a public overpass, it is not reasonable to equip a personal viewing pit, especially since it often acts as a source of dampness.

But if you decide to make a viewing ditch, then remember that the walls and bottom of the pit need to be fastened with concrete with the addition of a waterproofing agent, and the edges should be strengthened with metal corners. In this case, you will get comfortable flanges on which it will be possible to lay shields / wooden boards that will hide the pit during non-working hours and protect the wheels from getting into the ditch.

Tip: In the walls of the pit, make small niches in which you can put the used tools.

How best to equip the garage: lighting and ventilation

Qualitative ventilation will prevent the appearance of harmful odors and protect the room from dust and dampness. Holes for ventilation are usually located on both sides of the gate and on the opposite side, but already under the roof. The holes are covered with bars.

For lighting the garage, you can use incandescent, fluorescent or LED lights. If the room is very large, it is reasonable to use energy-saving lamps.
