Each girl has a dream - a doll house with all the accompanying furniture. To date, you can buy such, as well as individual interior items of a small house for a doll, at any children's store. However, parents do not always have such an opportunity. But after all, you can make interior objects with your own hands, using completely customary materials at the same time. In this article we will talk about how to make a toy sofa together with a child.
Sofa for dolls own hands
The principle of making toy sofas is simple. He does not require special skills. In the master classes we will offer two variants of sofas for dolls. Both options can be improved and modified to your own taste and discretion. So, changing their basis, you can play with shape and size.
Cardboard boxes from under shoes, toys or appliances, or washed and dried packages of juices, are suitable as a basis.
You can also use different materials for upholstery of a toy sofa: cotton wool, foam rubber, sintepon, polyethylene film with bubbles or just a soft fabric folded several times.
Cloth fabric can be different: from the ripped bathrobe to the upholstery material for real furniture. Fix this fabric in several ways: sew manually or staple a couch cover for your own made patterns or fix the measured lengths of fabric with a conventional paper stapler.
Children's toy sofa
To make a toy sofa we need:
- cardboard box from under shoes;
- foam rubber;
- the cloth;
- a stapler;
- scissors;
- thread;
- needle.
- We cut one of the long sides from the cardboard box. This will be the basis of our sofa.
- We try the skin fabric, wrapping its strip on the "back" and the bottom of the box. Cut off the excess and sew the fabric, making it a sheath. We also do the cloth for the sides of the sofa.
- We put the central and side covers on the corresponding sides of the box. The back of the sofa is filled with foam rubber and after that, bending the fabric, fix it with staples using a stapler.
- We measure the size of the base of the resulting sofa, add the desired height and measure the necessary size of fabric for sewing a sofa cushion.
- The sofa cushion is filled with foam rubber, we sew and put it in the bottom of the box. Our toy sofa is ready! If desired, you can sew several small pads for decoration.

Sofa for Barbie doll
To make a sofa worthy of the Barbie doll, take a brighter fabric for the upholstery and slightly modify it, using a large box, cut in parts.
For the Barbie couch we will need:
- cardboard box from under the big toy;
- foam rubber;
- the cloth;
- glue;
- scissors;
- a stapler;
- Scotch;
- thread;
- needle.
- After imagining what the future sofa looks like, we cut out the constituent parts of its base from the walls of the box. We collect the cardboard base, fixing its parts with the help of an adhesive tape.
- From the thin foam we cut out the back, sides and the bottom of the sofa. Foam is glued to the cardboard.
- We sew the covers for the sides of the sofa, making them a bit longer. After the covers are dressed, the excess fabric will hang a little, creating the effect of boudoir drapery. The bottom of the sofa and the backrest are covered with cladding material and gently fixed with glue or staples.
- From the fabric and foam we make cushions and small pillows for the doll. As an additional element of decoration sew white tapes to them.
- We collect the base of the sofa and cushions. Our couch for Barbie is ready!
