Museum of Modern Art (Stockholm)

The museum was opened on May 9 in 1958. In 1994, the exhibits were temporarily moved, and the building was renovated, led by the famous Spanish architect Rafael Moneo, in the planning of the galleries he was assisted by Renzo Piano.

In 1998, the public was presented with a new image of the institution that fully corresponded to the exhibits. The first director of the Museum of Modern Art was Otto Skeld, who not only founded, but also significantly expanded the unique collection.

Another head of the institution named Pontus Hulten bequeathed to the museum his own collection, which includes 800 exhibits together with a library and archive. Some of them can be seen in a special gallery, while others are on display at a permanent exhibition.

In 1993, two paintings by Georges Braque and six by Picasso were stolen from the museum. Thieves entered the museum building through the roof. The total cost of work is estimated at about 50 million dollars. It was possible to return only 3 masterpieces of Pablo, the rest are still in search.
