Non-alcoholic wine during pregnancy

At the most emotional 9-month period in the life of every woman expecting the appearance of a baby, many holidays fall: New Year, March 8, Birthday, and maybe even their own wedding ... All of them, according to the old Russian tradition, imply the need to drink for the fulfillment of desires, for health, for a strong family union, etc. Surely, the future mommy with all responsibility approaches the issue of taking a negative influence on the fetus during pregnancy. And even if there is information that 1-2 glasses of natural wine per week will not have an impact on the development and health of crumbs, it is better, after having studied all possible consequences, to completely abandon alcohol. "But what about holidays, toasts, for which, as they say, it is simply a sin not to drink?" - you ask. An excellent alternative to a very useful juice in the feast during pregnancy can be non-alcoholic wine.

It is called non-alcoholic because of the reduced content of alcohol in such wine to a safe value of 0.5%, because the removal of all alcohol from wine by technology is simply impossible. Non-alcoholic wine goes through all stages of production, on a par with the usual, but before being bottled into a bottle it is placed in a vat where ethyl alcohol is extracted under vacuum. There are opinions that red non-alcoholic wines, in contrast to whites, contain an even smaller percentage of alcohol. In the product line of such wines, along with table producers, sparkling wines are also included.

Non-alcoholic wine consists of more than 100 components represented by microelements (potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, copper, iron, etc.), vitamins, enzymes, organic acids, etc. That is why it has dietary and medicinal properties. This wine is useful:

Non-alcoholic wine perfectly tones up the body and improves appetite. Antioxidants contained in it, prevent clogging of vessels with atherosclerotic plaques, since they do not allow the cholesterol to oxidize. This leads to a decrease in blood pressure in people at risk of cardiovascular disease. And thanks to mineral acids, the absorption of proteins, for example meat, improves. In addition, the calorie content of non-alcoholic wines is 2-3 times lower than that of their usual "brethren".

And yet, despite all its merits, taking non-alcoholic wine during pregnancy has disadvantages:

  1. It can have harmful ingredients and chemicals in its composition, which can have a certain negative impact on the health of the baby.
  2. Such wine, as usual, can cause allergies. Its possible causes are sulfur or mold contained in wine, as well as substances that are the basis of wine, including grapes or pesticides, by which it was processed. In addition, to the irritation of the skin and mucous in people prone to increased sensitivity, can lead to a non-perception of biogenic amines, for example, histamine.
  3. The rather high cost of non-alcoholic wine makes it a product of the "elite" class. For this reason, the advice of the best wine tasters is to drink ginger beer as an alternative or juice.
  4. Less durable than alcoholic wine.

As you can see, there are no absolute contraindications as to whether it is possible for pregnant women to consume nonalcoholic wine. And, in spite of this, it is better not to abuse it, but to limit oneself to a holiday with one small glass. This will not make you a "white crow" in the feast, while preserving, and perhaps slightly increase your health and the health of the baby. And, finally, one more small remark: scientists still recommend drinking non-alcoholic wine during pregnancy only if it is longer than 12 weeks and there are no complications of its course.
