Paguera

The resort of Paguera (Mallorca) is located 25 km from Palma , in the south-west of the island. It is one of the most romantic resorts of Mallorca ; it is often chosen for recreation by newlyweds or couples who came here to celebrate the anniversary of their joint life. The resort began to develop actively since 1958, and the first hotel here appeared in 1928; it's called Platges de Paguera. Approximately at the same time this place was chosen by the local rich people - here they started to build luxury villas. The first of them was built in 1926 and belonged to Rudolfo Valentino.

Today, about 2.5 thousand people live in the city, and at the same time it can receive about 10 thousand tourists at the same time.

Transport connection

From the airport of Mallorca to Paguera there is a direct bus; the cost of the trip is 2.5 euros, and the duration is about an hour. The car you get twice faster, but, of course, more expensive - for about 30 euros. In the city you can easily find a car for a price from 35 euros per day. Car rental services, as well as bicycles, - provides the majority of resort hotels.

To get from the resort to Palma you can take buses Nos. 102, 103 and 104, the fare of which is 3 euros.

A bit of history

The settlement is old enough - in ancient times pine pine was obtained here. Actually, the name itself is translated as "oven for wood tar". This place and historical significance - it was here before the decisive battle with the Moors was the camp of Jaime I.

Beach holidays

In Paguera there are 3 main beaches: Playa Tora, Playa Palmira and Playa la Romana. Between them they are connected by a pedestrian promenade. Why the main? Bellver Castle is the only round castle in Spain

Other attractions of the resort

The town itself Pueblo Espanol also deserves attention - it's an exaggeration, an open-air museum where you can see 116 houses built in different architectural styles. The town was built in 1927.

And if you climb straight from the beach along the stone stairs to the village of Cala Fornells - get a chance to admire both the chic villas and a beautiful view of the bay.

The resort is the starting point for many hiking and cycling tourist routes. You can also go on a water excursion along the coast - or to a small island of Dragonera, where there are 2 lighthouses (one of them is built on a 300-meter rock), and endemic lizards, a variety of birds and mountain goats.
