Papillomas are a consequence and manifestation of a viral disease of papillomatosis caused by the papilloma virus. These viruses in dogs are of eight kinds.
Most often in young dogs, papillomatosis can be found in the mouth and inside the mouth. In other parts of the body, papillomas are less common. On the neck, ears, extremities, they are mostly manifested in older dogs and are not contagious. On the skin they are denser and keratinous than on mucous membranes.
Causes of papillomavirus in dogs
The papilloma virus penetrates the body through cracks in the mucous membrane of the oral cavity of the dog, multiplies in the basal layer, is implanted in the cells and gradually progresses to the surface of the skin. Under the influence of the virus, skin cells begin to expand and tumors begin to appear on the surface - papillomas.
If the disease is not cured in time and the dog has a lot of warts-papillomas, it becomes painful to eat, chew food. The animal refuses to eat, and gradually its body is depleted.
Treatment of papilloma in dogs
Each caring owner puzzles himself with the question of how to treat papillomas in dogs and take timely measures to prevent the suffering of his pet.
There are several ways of treatment:
- bandaging linen thread under the root and moxibustion with liquid nitrogen;
- folk remedies (with single manifestations) - moxibustion of celandine juice until the wart turns black, then it is cut off and continues to lubricate the cutoff site with celandine;
- multiple papillomas are treated with intravenous injection of novocaine every 3 days for 5-10 ml, the course of treatment - 3-4 injections;
- vaccination. Vaccination is the most effective method for today, and the vaccine is prepared on the basis of the papillomas themselves, found on the dog.
The received agent is administered subcutaneously on 3-5 ml two times with an interval of a week. A month later, the disease recedes.
