If you are planning to make an original decoration of your interior, a funny pillow for your child, or just an unusual gift to an expensive person, a pillow like an owl, cat, elephant or some other creature is great for all this. In the next master class we will tell you how to sew an owl pillow with your own hands.
Here's what we need to implement the idea:
- pillow 40x40 cm, filled with sintepon;
- fabric for the main background and for finishing the "tummy" of an owl;
- flap bright felt for the beak and eyes (4 colors);
- threads of various suitable shades.
1. From the fabric for the main background should be cut out a pillowcase in the form of an owl, while the ears must be clearly distinguished.
2. To achieve symmetry, the fabric (40x40 cm) should be folded in half, and in order for us to have a plump owl pillow, the pattern should be slightly smaller than the base pad.
3. Now, from the finishing fabric, open the rounded part with the base of 30 cm and the height of 20 cm, and from the felt of different colors - one detail for the beak and two pieces (symmetrical) of three different diameters for the eyes.
4. Let's start assembling the obverse of our owl. Applying the cut parts with the wrong side to the face of the pillow, we collect the appliqué. After that you can start sewing all the parts in order.
5. To do this, you first need to sweep the sovushkino "pusiko" without bending, and then thread the color of the pillowcase with a "zigzag" seam.
6. After that, you should symmetrically attach the largest circles of eyes and beak to the center of the pillow, gently sweep and stitch with a dense zigzag.
7. Now spread out the details that have the shape of the petals, and also sew them in zigzag.
8. In the same way, sew the remaining details of the owl eyes. For brightness of application use threads of contrasting color.
9. When the appliqué is ready, you need to fold the two pillowcases together with the inside sides and sew the parts together, retreating from the edge approximately 1 cm.
10. Stitch the seams better with a zigzag. Now we turn the pillowcase-owl on the front side. We put a pillow inside, the corners of which will serve as bulky owls.
11. After that, gently sew the underside of the cushion with the hidden stitches, subjecting the allowances to 1 cm inside.
12. That's ready a wonderful pillow-owl with your own hands. It remains to sit her on the couch and enjoy the results of her work.
