What is interesting about the temple of Pura Tanah Lot in Bali in Indonesia?

First of all, it is worth noting that Pura Tanakh Lot is located in Tabanan (about 20 km from Denpasar ), in the southwestern part of the island . The temple, whose name in Indonesian means "Earth", is located on a large sea rock, which has been continuously formed over many years by the ocean flow. Along the Balinese coast there are 6 other marine shrines that form a chain of spiritual protection for the island.

According to legend, the founder of the Pura Tanah Lot is Dang Niang Nirartha, who traveled along the southern coast of Bali in the 16th century. After spending a few nights on a tiny island, the brahmana realized that this is the best place to worship the sea gods, and with the help of local fishermen created a temple here, the main deity of which was the Virgo of Baruna or Bharata Segara.

In 1980, the temple began to gradually deteriorate, and the area inside and around it became dangerous for visitors, so the government allocated more than $ 130 million to repair the sanctuary.
