Relapsing fever

The term "recurrent typhus" combines epidemic and endemic infectious diseases caused by a group of pathogenic spirochetes. Diseases are characterized by bouts of fever, which alternate with normal body temperature.

Recurrent typhus is found all over the world, except for Austria. The highest incidence is observed in Africa, in the same place the most severe forms appear. To a greater extent, this is caused by a large number of disease vectors, which significantly affects the spread of the disease.

Symptoms of recurrent typhoid

The first signs of recurrent typhus are bright enough and start suddenly:

These external signs can be noticed not only by the patient himself, but also by the surrounding ones. With further research, there is an enlarged spleen and liver. Recurrent typhus can also be accompanied by bronchitis or pneumonia, which significantly worsens the general condition of the patient and hampers the treatment process.

Carriers of the disease

The main carriers of recurrent typhoid are the mites of the Argasidae family, for example, settlement and Persian mites. In the case of epidemic infectious diseases, the disease provokes a louse. In natural foci the circulation of the causative agent of recurrent typhus regularly occurs to mites from rodents, which also carry the recurrent typhus. Parasite carriers and parasitic organisms accumulate for living not only in burrows and caves, but also in economic buildings: barns, cellars, cellars, storages and so on.

Preventive of return type

At present, cases of epidemic or tick-borne recurrent typhoid are rare in post-Soviet countries, but prevention of this disease is an indispensable measure. In order not to meet with the carriers of infection, residents of private homes should regularly handle residential and non-residential premises by means against rodents and insects.

Also it is necessary to avoid contact with patients with pediculosis , even if they are at the last stage of treatment. If you live with such people in the same room, you should have personal hygiene products, and you should not exchange things until you are fully recovered.
