In the game, everyone is invited to choose between two virtual actions: "hit" Chris Brown or "slap" Rihanna. The joke was not appreciated by Rihanna and openly criticized the network itself. Brown himself has not yet given official comments on the fact that his name is used for such entertainment games.
Rihanna has published in Instagram the following statement:
"Snapchat, I'm sure that you are aware that your application is not included in the list of my favorites. I'm trying to understand what is the point of that garbage that appeared recently in your application. I would like to think that this is ignorance and stupidity on your part, but so much? You have invested a lot of money in a dubious project that calls for a "hit"! This joke makes victims of domestic violence ashamed of themselves and it's not in my personal history, deep feelings. The fact is that women, men and children who have experienced violence for once in their life and those who are in a difficult situation have turned out to be loyal. Immediately throw this app out, you embarrass yourself! "
The reaction from the company did not take long. It is known that representatives of Snapchat through the BBC asked for an official apology and tried to justify the statement:
"We regret that the application offended the feelings and experiences of our subscribers. Advertising was approved by mistake and taking into account violations of the internal norms of the social network. We have already liquidated the gaming application. "
As you might expect, a banal answer did not help the company, Snapchat shares have already fallen by 5%.
