Royal Park

The national pride of every Barbadian is the Royal Park (Queen's Park), which is located in the north-east of Bridgetown . This landmark bears, in the first place, a historical interest. Indeed, earlier this park, more precisely the House of the Royal Park (Queen's Park House), was the residence of the commander-in-chief of the British garrison, who was in Barbados from 1780 to 1905. And in June 1909 the former residence became a national park, which every year seeks to visit thousands of tourists.

What to see?

To date, the Royal Park is protected by the National Commission for the Protection of Flora and Fauna (NCC), on whose shoulders is responsible for maintaining the beauty of this landmark Barbados . In addition to eternally blooming greenery, there are playgrounds where every child can spend an exciting time, a gazebo for intimate conversations and romantic evenings, a fountain, the murmur of the water in which has a relaxing effect. Also Queen's Park boasts not only picturesque gardens, but also a sports ground, where cricket is played daily - a favorite sport of local residents.

How not to mention that this is a house for one of the two existing on the island baobabs, whose circumference is 17 m, and the age of the giant is 1000 years old? And if you want to spend an evening with benefit and peace of mind, then definitely visit the theater of Daphne Joseph Hackett (Daphne Joseph Hackett theater) and the Gallery of the Royal Park (the Queen's Park Gallery). In addition, various activities take place here every year, among which in 1981 there was a "Karifeşta" (CARIFESTA).

How to get there?

Unfortunately, there is no public transport directly to the Royal Rd near the Royal Park, but you can get here by taking the No. 601 bus to Martindales Road, 81, and from there go north until you see the vast territory, which is a national park.
