Among the pathogenic bacteria that can cause acute intestinal infectious diseases, the most common is salmonella. There are more than 2 thousand varieties of this microorganism, each of which is very resistant to environmental conditions and even antibiotics. Therefore, it is important to know exactly what signs of intestinal damage are caused by salmonella - the symptoms often resemble typhus, ordinary intoxication or none at all, which makes it difficult to diagnose the infection in time.
Symptoms of Salmonella Poisoning
Clinical manifestations of salmonellosis correspond to the form of the pathology in question:
1. Gastrointestinal:
- dizziness;
- strong weakness;
- increase in body temperature to 38.5-39 degrees;
- chills and fever;
- abdominal pain localized near the navel;
- vomiting with undigested food pieces, which transforms into watery bile secretions;
- headache;
- diarrhea with mucus and feces of a greenish hue;
- abdominal tenderness during palpation;
- dry tongue, covered with white dense coating;
- enlargement of the liver and spleen;
- bloating;
- increased flatulence, frequent gas leakage;
- convulsions;
- lowering blood pressure;
- dehydration ;
- fainting;
- tachycardia;
- disorders of the nervous system.
2. Asymptomatic. It is not accompanied by any signs, as the body quickly copes with the bacterial attack due to the immune system.
3. Septic:
- profuse sweating;
- intense fever;
- jaundice ;
- chills;
- inflammatory purulent processes in the digestive organs.
4. Typhoid-like. In many ways, the symptoms are similar to gastrointestinal infection with salmonella, after which additional signs are added:
- opacities of consciousness;
- hallucinations;
- rash on the abdomen;
- rave;
- blanching of the skin;
- covering the tongue with a gray-brown coating;
- bloating;
- palpable enlargement of the liver, spleen.
5. Bacteriovirus. Carrying takes place almost without noticeable clinical manifestations, but the patient spreads the infection for a long time, up to 90 days.
Treatment of symptoms of Salmonella lesions
Moderate forms of salmonellosis are amenable to therapy at home, without even having to take antibiotics. Recommended:
- Cleansing enemas;
- bed rest;
- reception of sorbents (Atoxil, Polypefan, Enterosgel);
- anti-inflammatory drugs (indomethacin, calcium gluconate);
- sparing diet.
Complex cases of infectious infection involve only hospitalization.
