San Marino Grand Prix

The Grand Prix of San Marino (Gran Premio di San Marino) is the name of the stage of the World Championship in auto racing, class "Formula-1". As is known, since 1981 Italy has hosted two Grand Prix on its territory. The name of one was borrowed from the state, which is surrounded on all sides by the territory of Italy, this is San Marino. The very first Grand Prix of San Marino was held as a race off-set. It happened at the World Championships in 1979, a week after the Italian Grand Prix in Monza was held.

The route named Enzo and Dino Ferrari

The route for this was Imola, which was built in the fifties. But in order to hold the "Formula-1", the route of the Grand prix of San Marino was rebuilt, and it was done thoroughly. This track, which fell in love with the pilots, was in the part of the country that is covered with forests. It has magnificent bends, which then rise and fall.

A test of the skill of the riders on this track served as a turn "Tamburello". Then followed a very explosive and high-speed descent, called "Toza". Also a rather complicated turn awaited the racers in the north, he was given the name of "Rivazza". It was here in 1994 that Rubens Barrichello got into a serious accident.

This track is loved by Italian fans and in honor of the "Ferrari" the track is always decorated with red flags. Now it is named in honor of Enzo and Dino Ferrari.

Behind Imola, the reputation of the route, which brings destruction, is firmly entrenched. She was strict to the riders and all the time forced them to control the fuel consumption, which during the turbo was particularly important.

Creepy 1994

But still, when they say "Imola", then the most significant events are recalled. And one of them was the "Hell Weekend" of 1994. The most frightening news of the Formula One race of the San Marino Grand Prix marked this year, when a whole series of tragic events took place, thanks to which this stage was given such a name.

It all started on Friday, during practice. Then the car of Rubens Barrichello drove into the curb. Then the car, hitting the barrage of tires, turned over, and the pilot from a strong blow fainted.

On Saturday, during the qualifying race, Roland Ratzenberger from Austria collided head-on with the wall and because of the lost wing he died on the spot. It happened at the turn of Villeneuve.

The next day was marked by the fact that Ayrton Senna, who was a three-time world champion, at a fairly fast turn Tamburello lost control and crashed into the concrete wall. He died in a hospital, where he was taken by helicopter.

Grand Prix of San Marino - 2006

In 2006, the racing race "F-1" Grand Prix San Marino underwent a large number of changes. And the most significant of them was a completely new engine formula, since three-liter 10-cylinder engines were replaced with 2.4-liter V8.

In the same year, the ban on the replacement of tires during the race was canceled. This was done only a year after the introduction of this rule. And the format of qualification was changed to the one that became familiar for us today - a knockout system consisting of three sessions.

Car racing on the track in Imola, which traditionally bore the name of the Grand prix of San Marino, opened the European part of that season. All racing drivers, who in the first race were unsuccessful, hoped that the "Formula-1" Grand prix of San Marino will change the results of the championship.

The same hope was with the Ferrari team. And to win on the track, which bears the name of Enzo and Dino Ferrari, it was especially honorable for them. Becoming a champion especially wanted, because this was the last Grand Prix in San Marino.

And it was then that Michael Schumacher won the 66th pole in his career, and this figure brought him to the sole championship in history. For quite a long period this was the first huge success of both Schumacher and Ferrari.

Since 2007, the championship in San Marino stopped due to the fact that the attendance of this stage was low, and the configuration of the route almost did not allow super-modern cars to overtake.

In San Marino, in addition to entertainment programs, there are also many interesting museums: a museum of vampires , a museum of curiosities , the State Museum , a museum of torture , a museum of weapons and many others. other
