Any garden can be decorated not only with beautifully selected flowers, but also with garden sculptures. Under the front garden, usually allocated a small piece of land, so very economically relate to each of its meter. Therefore, to decorate, and plant flowers use pots in the form of different animals or birds. To make all garden sculptures, you need to use particularly strong and resistant to the effects of elemental materials, such as gypsum, iron, rubber and stone.

The swan is very effective and at the same time very convenient for placing a figure in it, so it can often be found in the gardens. In this article, you will learn how to make a swan-pot from gypsum.

Master-class: swan-pot from plaster with own hands

It will take:

  1. We put a five-liter bottle with a wide side to the ground and cut off the top. Pour inside wet sand, make a hole in the lid and insert a wire in it, arched in the form of a swan neck.
  2. Using a spatula, we evenly apply a 2 cm thick gypsum around the bottle. To level the top layer, use a brush moistened with water.
  3. Rectangular grilles are pressed down on each side and we apply gypsum on both sides with hands on them.
  4. We put a plaster on the wire, and then wrap it with a cloth or bandage.
  5. When the first layer dries, apply another layer of gypsum to the bandage and level with a wet brush. At the end of the wire, we form a round head of a swan and an elongated beak.
  6. We insert behind the pieces of wire and, applying a gypsum, we form the tail of a bird.
  7. The resulting blank is allowed to dry well (it will take about 2 days). We clean the entire surface of the swan with sandpaper and cover a special primer under painting. After completely drying it, we paint the whole body white, the beak in red, and the eyes and the beak's bezel in black.

A few tips

To arrange the flowers in the middle of the swan, you need to remove the covered sand and drill holes in them so that the water leaves.

To ensure that the gypsum does not dry out during the work, mix it in small portions and a very thick consistency. Apply with wet hands or a wet brush, so as not to dry out.

To make the figure even stronger in the gypsum solution, add 1% of the total volume of the PVA glue and it is better to apply the plaster with layers, giving a good dry out to each previous one.
