Swanholm

In the Swedish province of Skåne there are a hundred medieval castles that differ in age, size and condition. One of them is the castle of Svanholme (Swanholm), which was erected in the XVI century by the royal adviser and the Danish knight Mourids Jepsen Sparre (Mourids Jepsen Sparre).

History of the construction of the castle Svanholm

This ancient residence was built in 1530 in the immediate vicinity of the parish church, the ruins of which can be seen to this day. In the middle of the XVI century, Svanholme belonged to the Guardsman Henning Meijenstorp, who after the marriage passed him to the family of Sparre.

Until 1934 the castle passed from hand to hand. First it was owned by the Sparre family, then by Gillenstierny, after them Koya, McLaina, Bennett and Hallenborg. The last owner of the castle Swanholm in Sweden was Count Augustin Erensvard.
