Actovegin is a medical preparation for the prevention and treatment of hypoxia. Actovegin in tablets is used in conjunction with other agents in the therapy of diseases associated with circulatory disorders.
Composition of tablets Actovegin
Actovegin is a tablet covered with a greenish-yellow coat. Tablets are packaged in vials of dark glass or cardboard blisters. The main active substance of the drug is deproteinized hemoderivat, obtained from the blood of calves. In each tablet it contains 200 mg. The substance promotes the activation of metabolic processes in tissues. As auxiliary components in the tablets Actovegin 200 are used:

Indications for the appointment of tablets Actovegin are diseases and conditions associated with the restriction of the function of metabolism. The use of Actovegin tablets is justified in the following cases:
- disorders of blood circulation, including in diabetes and after traumatic brain injuries;
- lack of blood supply to the brain, mainly after ischemic stroke;
- encephalopathy, angiopathy;
- diabetic polyneuropathy ;
- thrombophlebitis, varicose veins, decreased vascular tone;
- chemical, radiation, thermal burns of skin and mucous membranes;
- burns, corneal ulcers and lesions, inflammation of the eyes;
- postoperative period with corneal transplantation.
As an adjuvant, Actovegin is used for skin nutrition disorders, trophic ulcers, ulcer diseases of all organs. The use of the drug in the care of bed patients helps to reduce the risk of bedsore. Actovegin is extremely popular in gynecology and is often prescribed to pregnant women with fetoplacental insufficiency to improve blood flow in capillaries. Recently, Actovegin occupies a special place in the therapy of dementia (senile dementia), when the transfer and utilization of glucose in the patient's body worsens. The use of tablets improves the transport and assimilation of glucose, as well as increases the oxygen consumption of tissues.
Actovegin is well tolerated by patients, but in individual cases, an allergic reaction to the drug in the form of urticaria and edema is not ruled out. Disorders from the cardiovascular system are also possible.
Contraindications to the prescription of the drug are:
- hypersensitivity to the active substance;
- severe heart failure;
- swelling in the lungs;
- violation of the function of excretion of liquids (anuria, oliguria);
- children's age to three years.
During pregnancy and lactation, the use of Actovegin is permissible in the presence of indications. In case of manifestation of side effects, the medicament, as a rule, is not abolished, but is corrected

How to take Actovegin tablets?
Actovegin is taken 30 minutes before meals or 2 hours after eating. The tablet is not chewed and washed down with water. The usual dosage of Actovegin is one or two tablets per reception with a multiplicity of three times a day. Duration of admission is usually one - one and a half months, but the dosage of the drug and the duration of application should be determined by the attending physician, taking into account the characteristics of the patient's body.
