What does it mean to live by the rules?

From childhood we are told how to behave, at school the basics of behavior in society are devoted to lessons, from all this hodge-podge, one thing is firmly remembered: "one must live by the rules." Only those who invented these rules and why they need to comply, no one to tell for some reason does not hurry. So it turns out that going into adulthood, we are at the crossroads, no one is following the behavior, and we can forget about all the rules ... or not?

What does it mean to live by the rules?

Try to remember the important rules that were taught in childhood, surely something like "not to offend the little ones" and "knife in the right hand, fork - in the left" will come to mind. But in order to outline a clear line of conduct, this is clearly not enough. So, what does it mean to live by the rules - to greet all the neighbors, to remember the biblical commandments or to puzzle further, trying to remember the rest of the parental instructions? The worst thing is that there is no unequivocal answer to this question, and everyone will have to find his own way, and that's why.

Try to imagine a person who believes that living by the rules, means to comply with all existing recommendations that follow all the signs and moral standards. The picture is creepy, is not it? Apparently, some standards will have to be abandoned, so as not to become their hostage. And the youthful maximalism walking through the veins whispers at all that a man who lives by the rules is not only incredibly boring, but he can never achieve success either in his career or in his personal life. So can completely abandon them, and live as you want?

Similar thoughts come to everyone's mind, and many really try to give up any restrictions, but after a while they notice that in similar situations they act the same way, that is, they build a certain line of behavior. It turns out that you need to live by the rules, but only by what you invented yourself. It does not oblige them to be unique, most likely most life principles will be extremely common. It is not the originality that is important here, but the independence of the choice of those or other rules. Because those who come from outside, they will be perceived as imposed instructions, not supported by reasonable explanations or own experience. Therefore, do not be afraid to seek your own rules of life, even if you first have to forget about all the authoritative opinions.
