Why SNILS child?

Now in Russia each person is assigned his personal insurance number of an individual personal account (SNILS). This means that the citizen is registered in the mandatory pension insurance system, and he is assigned an individual number, which is indicated on the face of the insurance certificate.

Initially, SNILS was assigned to each person for transfer to his account of insurance premiums, the amount of which depended in the future on the amount of pension accrued. Today, the set of functions performed by the SNILS has significantly expanded, and from 01 January 2011 the receipt of the insurance certificate became mandatory for all adults and, in particular, children.

Often parents are puzzled why SNILS is needed for a child, because he will not be paid insurance premiums for a long time. In this article we will try to answer this question.

Why design a child with SNILS?

In addition to accumulating information on insurance premiums, SNILS now performs the following functions:

  1. Data on SNILS are used by the MHIF to identify a person who receives free medical care. Of course, medical care for you and your child should be provided even in the absence of SNILS, but the presentation of an insurance certificate in some situations can significantly speed up the process and save your nerves.
  2. The HUD number is used to access the electronic public services portal. Thus, if you have an insurance certificate, you will be able to quickly draw up some documents and avoid queues in various government agencies.
  3. Most often moms and dads are wondering why SNILS for a child is required in school and kindergarten. When you enter these institutions, the presentation of an insurance certificate is not mandatory, and you have the right to refuse it. Meanwhile, during the training a set of textbooks is allocated for each schoolchild, and a subsidy for food is given to the kid in the kindergarten . In this case, SNILS is used to calculate and monitor allocated grants, which facilitates the work of staff of childcare institutions.
