Each of those who has devoted himself to this difficult profession, begins his medical path with the oath of Hippocrates. After all, it is the principle of this founder of medicine about the treatment not of a disease, but of a patient, taking into account all its individual characteristics, today is the basis of all medicine.
Thanks to the established collaboration of doctors, such formidable diseases as plague and smallpox, anthrax and typhus , leprosy and cholera were defeated. And today the effect of medical care to a person very often depends on the general efforts of doctors from several countries of the world, regardless of their nationality, citizenship and age. Uniting for the salvation of human life, people in white coats sometimes do the miracles of healing their patients. Still Hippocrates in due time asserted, that sometimes the doomed patient can recover, if he will be completely assured of skill of the doctor.
Today in most countries of the world on the first Monday of October the World or International Day of the Doctor is celebrated: a holiday of solidarity of doctors of the whole world. The initiator of this holiday was the World Health Organization (WHO) and the humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières. Everyday life of these doctors is an endless self-sacrificing concern for the preservation of the patient's health and life. It's not for nothing that the profession of a doctor was considered at all times the most noble and honorable.
For the staff of the association "Doctors Without Borders" it does not matter at all what nationality a person is, or what religion he professes. They help victims of various epidemics and disasters, armed or social conflicts. Without distinction or discrimination, these selfless people work in the hottest spots, saving people who are in emergency situations, providing the medical care they need so much. In addition, the volunteers of this organization carry out educational, as well as preventive work to combat drug addiction and AIDS.
World Doctor's Day - events
Day of the doctor is a holiday for all who have chosen for themselves the most humane specialty in the world - to treat people. In 2015, the World Day of the Doctor was celebrated on October 5, in 2013 this holiday was celebrated on October 1. All employees of public health services, marking a professional holiday on this day, conduct various activities: cognitive lectures on the profession of a doctor, various seminars, presentations, exhibitions of medical equipment. For the medical workers on this day, various entertainment events are held. On this day, it is customary to honor and reward especially distinguished people in white coats.
In the countries of the former CIS, the Day of the Medical Worker is celebrated on the basis of the established tradition in June.
