Yardenit


Yardenit is the source of the Jordan River and the place where John the Baptist baptized Jesus. Today Yardenit is the center of the spiritual pilgrimage of Christians, every Orthodox and Catholic wants to be baptized in this place. Many come here just to plunge and wash themselves of their sins.

Description

Yardenit in Israel annually visits several hundred thousand pilgrims. Despite the fact that there are always a lot of people here, the atmosphere is calm and pious. It is often possible to see large groups of believers who come by bus, as well as clergymen who carry out the sacred action.

Interestingly, there are always a lot of ducks, gulls and herons on Yardenit on the Jordan River, and under the surface of a flock of Som. Both those and others are waiting for them to be fed with bread. Pilgrims gladly treat local people, enjoying contact with nature.

At the entrance to Yardenit there is a memorial wall on which a quote from the Holy Scripture is engraved on different languages ​​- Mk. 1, 9-11. It says that during the baptism of Jesus the Holy Spirit came down in the form of a dove.

Information for tourists

Yardenit has an infrastructure, thanks to which the movement around the complex is comfortable and comfortable. Also the complex is equipped with descents to the water and changing rooms, so visitors can easily prepare for ablution.

In a special shop you can buy epiphany clothing in white. If you forgot the towels, they can also be bought on the spot. In memory of visiting Yardenit on the Jordan River, you can buy souvenirs in a special store.

How to get there?

Most often Yardenit go in groups on buses, so tourists do not need to know the route. But if you decide to get to the place yourself, you can do it on public transport: the bus stop "Bet Yerah Regional School", routes No. 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 31, 38, 51, 53, 57, 60, 60, 63, 71.
