Another dangerous complication of infection with the virus is Zika - Guillain-Barre syndrome , which is characterized by partial paralysis (paresis). Initially paresis affects the lower limbs, after a while, - hands, and then other muscles of the body. If paralysis affects the respiratory system, the patient may die as a result of a lack of oxygen.

Doctors advise to refrain from visiting countries in which cases of Zick fever have been registered repeatedly, in extreme cases, they recommend being cautious and strictly follow the rules of prevention.
Especially recommendations concern pregnant women. And these requirements are justified. The fact is that if a woman waiting for a baby has symptoms of infection with Zeka virus, the consequences can be very unpleasant. Infection causes the development of a serious disease - microcephaly. The newborn has a disproportionately small head, insufficient height and weight.
Because of brain underdevelopment, the intellect of such children lags far behind the norm, convulsions and coordination of movements are noted. Often develop strabismus, deafness. Sometimes internal bleeding and tissue necrosis are possible. The lifespan of patients with microcephaly, as a rule, does not exceed 15 years, and the entire lifetime of a child with a severe congenital disease is a real test for close people. Among microcephals, among other things, the process of socialization is hampered.
In the arsenal of physicians to date, there is no way to prevent the transmission of the virus from an infected mother to the fetus.
The World Health Organization warns that new outbreaks of a dangerous infection are possible. As a result, both the indigenous inhabitants of tropical countries and tourists from other countries may suffer. The problem is especially topical on the eve of the 2016 Olympics, which will be held in Brazil, located in the tropical and subtropical geographic areas.
