Actovigin refers to supporting drugs that are used to accelerate the recovery processes in cells. It is used for rehabilitation after burns and radiation therapy, in situations where it is necessary to improve the cellular exchange urgently. The greatest effect is given by the use of the drug Actovegin intravenously. Parenterally, the therapeutic properties of blood hemoderovat of calves, freed from protein, remain intact.
Why is Actovegin administered intravenously?
Such forms of the preparation are available for sale:
- dragees for oral use;
- gel for external use;
- eye gel for fast healing of the retina and cornea;
- solution for intravenous and intramuscular injections;
- solution for intravenous infusion.
With maintenance therapy and for prophylactic purposes, Actovegin is used inside, but during the passage through the digestive tract the drug loses its main advantage - speed. It is for this reason that it is more expedient to use Actovegin as injections, intravenously or intramuscularly. At the first administration, a dose of 10-20 ml per dose is permissible. Subsequently, the patient is transferred to a dropper with a lower concentration of the active ingredient.
How is it better to inject Actovegin intravenously?
When intramuscular introduction includes hidden resources of the body, the effect of using the drug occurs fairly quickly, but is less pronounced than when introducing blood vessels into the network. You can put the injections in both veins and arteries, without making any distinctions. In order that Actovegin, when administered intravenously, does not cause an allergic reaction, an allergic test may be performed to the main active substance. For this, a few drops of the solution are applied to the scarified finger. It is important to remember that in the oral form the drug causes individual sensitivity rarely, so if you used Aktovegin's dragee before then, it's still better to try the sensitivity.
Drip Actovegin is administered intravenously in such situations:
- cerebrovascular accident, stroke ;
- violations of peripheral blood circulation, trauma, pressure sores;
- trophic disorders, varicose veins ;
- prevention and treatment of radiation injuries.
Solution for intravenous infusion has a reduced concentration of active substance - 5-10 ml per 250 ml of solution. It is administered once or twice a day for 7-10 days. The solution for the dropper can be prepared independently, by injecting 10-20 ml of Actovegin for injections into 200-300 ml of glucose solution or saline solution. At the same time, it is not recommended to combine it with other drugs.
