Balmaceda Park

The location of the Balmaseda Park is such a picturesque area in Chile as Patagonia . Stunning views of the tourists' eyes open already on the way to the park, swim by boat on the Last Hope, which got its name in 1557 during the expedition in search of the Strait of Magellan . On the whole stretch of the path you can observe waterfalls flowing from the green hills and taking their origin at an altitude of about 30 m. On the approach to the park, travelers are met by local fauna representatives - sea lions and large cormorants.

Already from a distance you can see blocks of ice that surprise with their majestic view. The glaciers of Balmaceda and Serrano , located in the park, are about hundreds of thousands of years old. The hanging glacier of Balmaceda looks as if it is in a sweeping section of the mountain. Very unusual looks the combination of ice with emerald massifs that surround the glacier. How to get there?

To get to the Balmaseda park from the city of Puerto Natales is possible only by sea, roads to it are not laid because of geographical features. The path is made on the Last Hope Strait by boat, which stops at the pier near the park of Bernardo O'Higgins . Next, you need to walk to the Serrano Glacier, the walk will take about 15 minutes.
