Chronic endometritis and pregnancy planning
Endometrite is an inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the uterus, which is naturally sterile and does not contain any microorganisms. If the vagina or bacteria gets into the uterine cavity, it leads to acute or chronic inflammation. If in the first case, the specific symptoms are present (fever, abdominal pain, purulent-mucous or spotting), then the woman may not even know about the chronic form of this disease.
To judge the presence of chronic endometritis can be due to habitual miscarriage of pregnancy , or infertility. This diagnosis is confirmed with the help of uterus and histological examination. Also, in some cases, specific tests are assigned: PCR, a flap for flora, a blood test for antibodies, and so on.
If endometritis has been identified before pregnancy, then the following measures are taken to treat it:
- elimination of the pathogen (they can be genital herpes, cytomegalovirus, chlamydia and other diseases that are transmitted sexually). As a rule, this is done with the help of an antibiotic, the choice of which depends on the type of infection;
- anti-inflammatory therapy;
- course of immunomodulating drugs;
- taking hormonal contraceptives for the next few months.
Treatment of endometritis in pregnancy
If endometritis is found during pregnancy, it is very important to cure it.
After successful treatment of chronic endometritis, pregnancy may occur in the next cycle, especially when hormonal drugs are withdrawn. However, doctors recommend taking a follow-up check and taking the necessary tests again. This is necessary to make sure that chronic endometritis is cured, and you can start active planning of pregnancy.
