All parents want their children to grow up happy and healthy, but, unfortunately, the last item often fails. Do not be upset, it's not so bad. After all, a small growing body needs to develop immunity and learn to resist various pathogens. But what to do, if the kid suddenly fell ill enough serious and dangerous disease? Among the many modern medicines for the treatment of children, the drug klatsid is very popular. It is an antibiotic that belongs to the group of macrolides and has antibacterial action and a wide range of applications.
Clatid for children - indications for use
Clacid is the only antibiotic of this group that is allowed for use by children. It is used for diseases caused by various bacteria and is prescribed for the treatment of infections of the respiratory tract, soft tissue and skin infections, as well as odontogenic infections:
- otitis media;
- bronchitis;
- pneumonia;
- folliculitis;
- polysynusitis;
- pharyngitis;
- monosynusitis;
- laryngitis;
- tonsillitis, etc.
Clatid for children is available in powder form for the preparation of a suspension in vials of 60 ml and 100 ml. It should be noted that for children up to three years of age, instructions are not prescribed for tablets in the form of tablets.
Clathid for children - dosage
To prepare the suspension in a vial of powder, add water to the specified level and shake well. The finished product can be stored at room temperature for no longer than 14 days.
The daily dose of the drug klatsid for children is determined by calculating 7.5 mg of clarithromycin (the active substance of the drug) per 1 kg of body weight 2 times a day. Proceeding from this it follows that the recommended dose is:
- for children under 2 years with a body weight of 8 to 11 kg - 2.5 ml or a half teaspoon of the drug 2 times a day;
- for children aged 2 to 4 years with a weight of 12 to 19 kg - 5 ml or 1 teaspoon 2 times a day;
- children from 4 to 8 years with a weight of 20 to 29 kg - 7.5 ml or 1.5 teaspoons 2 times a day;
- for children aged 8 to 12 years with a weight of 30 to 40 kg - 10 ml or 2 teaspoons 2 times a day.
The dose can be increased only for HIV-infected children.
Typically, the treatment is determined by the attending physician for each case of the disease and can be from 5 to 10 days. Only with streptococcal infection, treatment usually lasts longer than the specified time, but no more than two weeks. It should also be noted that this medication can be taken regardless of the time of meal.
Clatid for children - contraindications and side effects
Of course, klatsid, like any other antibiotics, has contraindications and possible side effects. But we note that the manifestations of side effects in this drug are rare and less acute.
Concerning contraindications, experienced medical specialists do not recommend the use of klatsid for serious violations
As for the side effects, they can manifest themselves as various disorders of the gastrointestinal tract, dizziness, migraine, sleep disturbance, ringing in the ears, stomatitis, inflammation of the tongue, and in extreme cases - psychosis, hallucinations, fear, convulsions, confusion. With any undesirable manifestations, it is necessary to stop taking the drug immediately, after which the condition will improve.
It should be remembered that klatsid is an antibiotic that should not be used without the doctor's recommendations, as this can be dangerous for your child's health.
