Cubes of Coos

Among all the development games, the Coos cubes are one of the most useful activities. This technique, developed in 1920 by an American psychologist and named after him, serves both to assess the child's intelligence level and to practice it to improve it. It is noteworthy that Coos cubes are also used for adults: there is even a system for translating the results of this test into an IQ assessment system. So, let's get acquainted with the basics of this method.

Cubes of Coax - features of the technique

As is clear from the above, the Cohos technique is a non-verbal test that allows you to assess the level of human intelligence. And what are the cubes themselves - the main stimulus material in the Cohos method?

It is, as a rule, wooden cubes of arbitrary size (usually no more than 35 mm3). They are painted in a cunning way: there are completely monochrome ones, and there are also two-colored ones, separated diagonally: yellow-blue and red-white. Apart from the cubes themselves, the set also has 17 cards with tasks. Each of them depicts the patterns that the child (or adult) is asked to put together from the cubes.

The very meaning of the methodology of psychological testing involves several exercises-tests for children, adapted to the game form. Here are the main ones.

  1. Construct a figure from only one-color sides of cubes.
  2. Use a few two-color.
  3. Add the given shape (for example, a boat with a sail) from a specific combination of one- and two-colored faces.

If the first images that are proposed to be folded are simple enough, the latter are becoming less symmetrical. With the increase in the complexity of the task, the number of cubes used for solving it increases as well as the number of colors on the upper edge of the folded image.

Very important is the indicator, how time to solve each task, and also the number of attempts undertaken. In addition to the described schemes, a child can always add invented patterns himself, using his wit and spatial reference points.

Based on the description of the cubes of Coos, games were developed on the method of early development of the Nikitins. Toddlers, playing with such cubes and performing tasks with a gradual increase in the level of difficulty, learn:

The author of the technique, S. Coos, believes that the fulfillment of tasks involves the use of all thought processes. The Coos test can be offered to children starting from the age of 5.

Cubes of Coax with their own hands

Cubes of Coosa can be purchased at the store, ordered on the Internet or done by yourself. The latter option is preferred by moms and dads who devote much time to the development of their children, and often parents of babies with small deviations in development, such as minimal brain dysfunction, impaired spatial orientation, various neuroses.

The easiest way is to download a roll of a paper cube on the Internet, print it on a color printer and glue it together. This will require you to invest the minimum labor and time.

A slightly more complicated variant is the production of wooden blocks and their subsequent painting. The resulting result will delight you and your children for a longer time than paper or cardboard cubes.

Also, keep in mind that when making the Coosa cubes with your own hands, you can independently choose the level of difficulty - for example, make them only two-color. The construction of the given figures is possible from 4, 9 or 16 multi-colored cubes.
