Curbs for flower beds with their own hands

Everyone will agree that the final stage in the creation of any landscape project is its successful fencing, and the garden bed is no exception. Fencing the flower bed with a decorative border, we will designate its contours, thereby transforming beyond recognition. Also, when choosing a curb for flower beds, its design plays a big role - it will be extremely inappropriate to have an eco-border of plastic bottles on the site with a magnificent decorative rose garden, but it will look superb in a flower bed with a vincer or field flowers. Classic versions of the fence of the site are appropriate in any landscape design.

Classical variants of decorative fences for beds are, of course, curbs made of stone, bricks or logs, but they are not inferior in functionality to the original curbs, for example, made of logs, branches, tires or even plastic bottles . In the article we will show a master class how you can make a simple, and at the same time, an original curb for your favorite flower bed from pre-prepared ground piles.

How to make a border with your own hands?

Choosing a site for the future flowerbed, or by outlining a clear outline of an existing one, let's define the design of the decorative border. We decided to make a fence of light pegs arranged in staggered order - one higher, the other lower (each even peg higher, respectively, each odd lower). The fence of light wood has one big drawback - they are very stamps, if the flower bed is not far from the roadway or next to the car will be parked, this is not the best option. However, even in this case, you should not abandon the idea, it is enough to cover the tree with a layer of stain (with each new layer the shade becomes darker) or special textured paint on wood, in the second case you can not only darken the tree, but also give it a special shade .

Having specified these moments for ourselves, we can start creating an original curb for the flowerbed with our own hands.

How to make a decorative border for a flower bed?

  1. First of all we need to prepare materials for work - wooden pegs. To do this, we will prepare the branches of the desired diameter, based on our own preferences. With a knife or special tools, if any, we peel off the bark from them, then cut them into pegs - half the pegs in height of 30 centimeters, half of 35 centimeters. How much you need a peg - we calculate, based on the future length of the curb and the desired distance between them.
  2. Next, prepare a trench for the curb - clearly outline the contour of the flowerbed and dig a ditch about 15 centimeters deep.
  3. Then we begin to install the pegs for the curb. We do this as follows: put the peg in a trench, sprinkle the earth, fixing its position, and then densely compact the soil.
  4. Following the first immediately set and the next. We alternate the pegs in height, we also try to alternate in diameter, if there is a noticeable difference in the size of the pegs.
  5. Continues in this way to install pegs in the trench, not losing sight of the distance between them. Ideally, it should be the same, in practice, we just try not to allow a noticeable difference, so as not to spoil the whole look of our homemade landscape design.
  6. Having sustained the distance between the pegs and their height, we get here such a fence.
  7. As a result, we get here such an original decorative fence in the form of a curb for a flower bed. Thanks to the use of natural material - a wooden frame - the fence will be appropriate in any case, regardless of the design of the flower bed and the types of its plantations.
