Flying mosque


Tiban Rego Touraine, or the Flying Mosque is a religious structure in the Indonesian state of Malang. It is considered one of the most bizarre mosques in the world.

Architecture and decor of the mosque

First of all, the mosque fascinates with its unique style, which is a bizarre mixture of Indian, Indonesian, Chinese and Turkish architectural styles, but, at the same time, it has distinct features characteristic of Muslim architecture.

It is believed that with its architecture, the Flying Mosque resembles a paradise palace in which the righteous rest in the highlands. Its name the Flying Mosque deserved thanks to the columns, because of which the building gives the impression of soaring in the air.

The entire facade of the mosque is very richly decorated with floral ornaments and patterns of Arabic calligraphy. The color design of the mosque is also very original: it combines blue, different shades of blue and white tones. The main entrance to the mosque is the high gate, which adorns two cone-shaped domes.

Infrastructure

The building consists of 10 floors; they are connected by a beautiful staircase. There are halls for worship; on 2 and 3 floors there is a historical museum.

On the middle floors there are shops where you can buy hijabs, prayer rugs, prayer beads and other religious items. And at the very top of the building is an artificial cave with "almost real" stalactites and stalagmites.

Surrounding area

The space around the mosque is well landscaped. There is an orchard, an orchard, vegetables from which are used for cooking in the dining room located here for believers. There is also a playground on site. The main mosque is adjacent to another one. Unlike other buildings, it is sustained in one color - white.

How to get to the mosque?

To Malang, you can fly by plane, including from Jakarta and other major cities in Indonesia - here is the airport named after Abdul Rahman Saleh. From the airport to the mosque you can get there by car - either by Jl. Raya Karang Anyar, or by Jl. Mayjend Sungkono. Both roads are approximately the same by kilometer (about 34.5 km) and by the time that will have to be spent on the way (just over an hour).
