Baluran


In the eastern part of the Indonesian island of Java is the national park Baluran (Baluran National Park). It is located at the foot of the extinct volcano of the same name and is remarkable for its unique flora.

The territory of Baluran is divided into 5 ecological zones. The main part occupies 120 square meters. km, a site with wild nature - 55.37 square meters. km, of which 10.63 square meters. km belongs to water bodies. The remaining 3 sections (8 km2, 57.80 km2 and 7.83 km2) are allocated to other relief features of the national park.

The nature of the reserve resembles Africa in its characteristics. Scenic landscapes and a diverse fauna attract tens of thousands of tourists every year. The symbol of Baluran is the bullhead of the banteng.

Flora National Park

The reserve flora is also represented by cereal (alang-alang), various kinds of prickly blackberry, lianas, blond acacia. The attention of tourists is attracted by a variety of palm trees and a coral tree.

Fauna of Baluran

There are 155 species of birds and 26 different mammals in the National Park. Visitors can meet here predatory animals, for example, red wolf, marten, leopard, palm civet, cat-fisher, mongoose and wild dog. Of the herbivores in Baluran live:

From the birds here you can see a striped turtledove, wild hens, a rhinoceros, a Javanese and green peacock, a marabou, a lot of parrots, etc. Among the reptiles in Baluran, there are cobras, brown bombers, Russell's vipers, dark and reticulate skeins.

How to get there?

From the center of the island of Java to the reserve can be reached by bike or car on the roads Jl. Pantura, Jl. Bojonegoro - Ngawi or Jl. Raya Madiun. On the route there are toll routes. The distance is about 500 km.
