Guira Oga

Puerto Iguazu - a small town in the vicinity of which you can get into this fairy tale. Tourists come here for the sake of a huge chain of waterfalls, consisting of 275 links. But not only is this area remarkable. In the Iguazu County is Guira Oga, the center for the rehabilitation of birds in Argentina . This is the place where you will be taught to love nature even more.

Guira Oga - the house of birds

"Save, free. Explore" - this is how the motto of Guyer Og sounds, which reveals the essence of this organization. Founded in 1997 by Sylvia Elsegood and Jorge Anfuso, this park has made a huge contribution to the conservation of some species of birds and the maintenance of fauna in general. Both founders are experts in ornithology, and continue their work in the center to this day.

Guira Oga, in the Guarani language, means "house of birds", but in fact it can be described as a huge zoo. In addition to its main function for the rehabilitation of birds, the center has become a haven for small species of animals - wild cats, monkeys, raccoons, noses. In Guira Oga there are those representatives of the fauna who were injured in the wild environment or due to cruel treatment of the owners, and now recover under the strict supervision of veterinarians. After the animal or bird comes back to normal, it is released into the surrounding forest.

The territory of the center has about 20 hectares. Here you will have a fascinating excursion, as guides take a direct part in the care of animals and know the history of almost every small resident. A special open car meets its visitors at the entrance, and gradually acquaints with each corner of Guira Og. English speaking tours are held twice a day - at 10.00 and 14.00 and last about an hour and a half. After that, you will be offered to take a walk on the territory of the park.

The cages in the rehabilitation center are arranged so that the animals retain maximum comfort when meeting a person. In addition, all the premises located on the territory of Guira Oga were built with minimal impact on the surrounding forest. All this is intended, in a clear example, to reveal the essence of the peaceful coexistence of nature and man.
