Watch - Decoupage

The technique of decoupage, which has French roots, is that we use napkins with a suitable pattern to create hand-made articles. In this case they can be ordinary canteens or special ones. In most cases needlewomen use only fragments of napkins, not all of it. Crafts in decoupage techniques are not only a hobby for the soul, but also great decorations for the home interior. In addition, such products made by themselves ( decoupage of housekeepers , decoupage of caskets , decoupage of plates , etc.), will always be a memorable gift.

We offer you with the help of a detailed and very simple master class to decorate the walls of your house with beautiful wall clocks in the technique of decoupage that you will do with your own hands in a few hours.

We will need:

  1. Prepare the workpiece for priming, removing all the roughness by sandpaper of fine fraction. When the surface of the workpiece becomes smooth, we apply a thin layer of primer for the wood.
  2. From a pre-chosen decoupage map or napkins we tear off that fragment, which will be the main drawing of our wall clocks.
  3. We put the fragment off for a few minutes in a prepared container of water. While the napkin razmokaet, on the primed billet we put a special glue for crafts in the technique of decoupage.
  4. We take the wet part of the decoupage map and accurately lay it on the towel to rid the napkin of excess liquid. On the workpiece paste the prepared image, and from above we cover it with glue for decoupage with a rather thick layer.
  5. When the glue on the workpiece completely dries, we apply a layer of varnish on it. It is better to use an aerosol form, since the varnish in the form of a spray lies more evenly and evenly. Then we apply a lower background to the sponge or sponge. At the final stage, it will be slightly visible only in some places of the clock.
  6. When the paint dries, we work the edges of our workpiece with a paraffin candle. This will give our watches a bit shabby and vintage appearance. After this, using the varnish for craquelure "step number 1" we fix the paraffin.
  7. Now cover the main color background with the left side of the wall clock, and paint the side sections with the selected secondary color.
  8. To show the lower background on the watch, carefully remove the top layer of paint carefully with sandpaper. Lacquer for craquelure "step number 2" fix the resulting result. We use oil paint or bitumen wax to show decorative cracks.
  9. We apply several (two or four) layers of varnish, alternately drying each layer. It is better to use matte varnish, which will effectively contrast with the central glossy flower. On the dial, draw a figure with a fine brush. When they dry, we apply a modeling transparent paste-gel to the bulk of the flower on the central flower. This substance gives shine and focuses on art smears.
  10. On the back of the watch, we attach the mechanism, with the front one - the hands, and it's ready!
