Guitar Museum

In the northern part of Sweden is a small town Umeå , which is the title of the cultural capital of the country. Every year in Umeå, various music festivals, opera and jazz concerts are held, so it is not surprising that it was here that the museum of guitars was created.

History and municipal support of the museum

The brick building, which houses a collection of musical instruments, was built in 1904. In addition to the museum of guitars, there is also a restaurant, a music store and a rock club. The official opening of the Gitarrmuseet center took place in January 2014, when Umea was included in the list of cultural capitals of Europe.

The Guitar Museum is managed by the owners of the rock club of Sharinsk and a music store called "4Sound". They are his main investors. The city authorities allocate funds for the renovation and improvement of basic premises. In addition, the municipality of Umeå annually allocate nearly $ 273,000 for the development of the museum of guitars.

Guitar Museum Collection

The creators of this unique cultural center are the music lovers Mikael and Samuel Aden. They began to collect musical instruments back in 1970, but put them on public display only on the day of the official opening of the museum of guitars.

Currently, their collection has 500 copies, among which:

The pearls of the musical exposition of the Aden brothers are the guitars Fender Broadcaster 1950, Gibson Flying V 1958 and Les Paul 1960.

Such a huge collection could not be overlooked by the world music community, which is why now the museum of guitars in Umeå is considered the largest of its kind.

In addition to the guitars themselves, this cultural center should be visited for the sake of temporary exhibitions. For example, recently the museum exhibited documents from the archives of the national movement, which were associated with the history of European hardcore 1989-2000.
