Heptral is a drug with a hepatoprotective effect, which is available in two forms: oral tablets and ampoules for intravenous or intramuscular administration. Medication Heptral in ampoules is a lyophilizate (powder) for the preparation of a solution with which a special solvent is supplied.
The active ingredient of the drug is ademethionine, a biological substance contained in all tissues of the body. It plays an important role in many biochemical processes and promotes an increase in the protective capacity of liver cells. The composition of the solvent includes such substances as:
- L-lysine (amino acid);
- sodium hydroxide;
- prepared water.
Pharmacological effect of injections with Heptral
The action of this drug is directed, first of all, to the restoration of metabolic processes in the hepatic cells and to the regeneration of tissues. But, in addition, heptral has a positive effect on the functions of the brain.

Heptral injections are recommended for such pathologies:
- chronic hepatitis;
- fatty hepatosis ;
- chronic acalculous cholecystitis;
- intrahepatic cholestasis;
- cirrhosis of the liver;
- cholangitis ;
- liver damage of a toxic nature (viral, alcoholic, drug, etc.);
- organic brain damage;

- depression.
Contraindications to the use of heptral
According to the instructions, Heptral in ampoules is not prescribed in the following cases:
- pregnancy (I - II trimesters);
- the period of breastfeeding;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug;
- deficiency of cystathione-beta synthase;
- a metabolic disorder of cyanocobalamin.
With caution, the drug is prescribed for renal failure, with bipolar disorders, as well as elderly patients.
