How quickly to learn poetry?

Most often, the poem is taught to children. In kindergarten they are taught, for example, for holidays, and at school - they are asked in class. If secondary and high school students do not need the help of their parents, then children in primary school and, especially preschoolers, better learn poetry with someone from adults. Parents of young children often wonder how quickly to learn poetry. We will not consider how to make a child learn poetry. This process should always be liked by the child, otherwise it will be possible to repel the desire to learn the poem for a long time. And if the child does not want to learn poetry, then we must either come up with how to do it interestingly, or wait for a while, and then try again.

What verses to learn by heart?

Before we consider the basic rules and methods of memorizing verses, we will determine why a child should learn poetry and which ones. It turns out that this activity very well develops memory and speech, shapes the child's sense of rhythm and style, as well as logical thinking. As for what verses to teach, the main thing is that they correspond to the age, and the topic was interesting first of all to the child, and not to his parents. Do not try to teach with the preschooler serious adult lyrics. The best choice will be the poems of your favorite children's writers: Agniya Barto, Korney Chukovsky, Samuel Marshak, Sergei Mikhalkov and others. And children from the lower classes can be offered, say, the tales of Alexander Pushkin. For very young children suitable folk rhymes and poteshki.

Rules for learning poems

If a child does not teach poetry well, it's hard for him, then parents need to remember several rules how to help their child.

  1. To learn poems with a child you need as soon as possible, almost from birth. First, the mother simply tells the rhymes to the little one while playing with him, changing clothes, or doing a massage. Naturally, a child will listen for a long time. But by the year the kid, distorting the words, will be able to repeat for his mother a couple of lines of favorite poems.
  2. Poems must necessarily be accompanied by drawings. Show first the pictures to the poems, and let the child himself choose what interests him. Do not immediately say that you will teach something. Better suggest that the child just listen and try again.
  3. The child should know why he learns poetry by heart. It is useless to explain to the child that poetry is fine. It is better to learn the poem for the arrival of the grandmother or for Santa Claus. Young children always need motivation.
  4. Observe what poems the child likes best. Some children like quiet, chanting poems, others - more rhythmic.
  5. You can try to teach poems by doing something with the child. For example, you walk in the playground and the kid learns to walk on a log. Tell him the poem about the bull-calf Agniya Barto, surely he will want to repeat it.
  6. To learn poetry as easily as possible, determine what kind of memory is more developed in the child. If he remembers visual images well (most often that's the case), draw illustrations to the text of the poem. If the baby is well developed tactile memory, you can give him toys or objects that are mentioned in the text (so if the verse about the bunny, then you can teach it by playing with a rabbit).
  7. Be sure to explain to the child the meaning of the poem and all incomprehensible words and phrases. Knowing well what the poem is about, it will be easier for a child to learn it.

How to teach great poetry?

If you want to learn a long poem, first break it into logical small parts, for example, quatrains. Teach each one individually. Only before moving on to the next part, repeat all the previous ones. It is not superfluous to draw pictures to all parts.

By three or four years the child is already able to memorize poems from one to two quatrains. And to school, when most children already know how to read, parents can teach the child how to teach poetry. If you show patience, then the stock of poems your child knows will quickly replenish.
