Rules of planting raspberries in autumn

It all starts with the choice of the optimal time for planting. And the best time for planting raspberries in the fall is mid-September. Nature itself provides us with all the favorable conditions - optimum humidity, soil and air temperature, mild solar heat. In addition, if you plant a raspberry at this time, its root system will catch on, and the next summer you will enjoy the first harvest.

To plant a raspberry follows in weakly acid soil. The seedlings must be properly prepared before planting: trim old rootlets, spread new roots, cut the seedling so that 25-30 cm remains above the surface of the earth and it is necessary to put the raspberry roots in the water so that they are well absorbed.

While the seedlings are in the water, we prepare a place for planting. First of all, when planting raspberries in the fall, you need to take care of fertilizer - it is the mineral fertilizers that are extremely important for raspberries. In the soil must be a sufficient amount of calcium and phosphorus - a sift of 20 grams of superphosphate per square meter. After that manure or compost is applied - 15 kg per 1 square meter.

Well level the fertilizer on the soil, deeply digging the earth 30-40 cm deep. And only after that we dig a ditch for our seedlings. If you have a multi-rowed raspberry, leave at least 1 meter between the rows.

Planting of raspberry seedlings in autumn

We proceed directly to the process of planting raspberry seedlings. At the bottom of the excavated hole we fill a little leafy soil (earth + humus from the leaves). This mixture protects against winter frosts and is an additional fertilizer for the plant.

Raspberries are planted at a distance of 30 centimeters from each other in dry soil. If some seedlings are weak or small, it is allowed to plant 2 together. Roots in the earth are well spread, then sprinkle them with sheet humus, covering the root collar for 2-3 cm. After that we cover everything with ordinary earth. Watering raspberries, planted in autumn, should be abundant - about 5 liters per bush.

Why raspberries should be planted in a trench way?

Raspberry can be planted in various ways: pit or trench. However, it is the trench method that is preferred. With this method of planting raspberries, a uniform distribution of nutrients is ensured, which in the future positively affects yields.

The selected site for planting raspberries should be properly prepared - get rid of weed plants, and so that they do not bother us in the future, we can stretch the rows between the linoleum. First, the area cleared of weeds is marked with pegs, then trenches are digested 50 cm wide and 40-45 cm deep. The number of rows and their length depends on the size of the area allocated for the planting of raspberries.

Requirements for the location of raspberries

Raspberries, planted in partial shade, will bear fruit poorly. Therefore, for raspberry, you need to choose a bright, protected from the north wind place. It is desirable to have trenches from the north to the south or from the north-east to south-west. With this arrangement of rows of raspberries, you will ensure the maximum amount of sunlight, which is especially important in the conditions of a cool summer and a small number of really warm days.
