Live hedges can not only hide your eyes from the eyes of others, but also become a decorative element. Conditionally distinguish several types of hedges depending on different characteristics:
- by species of plants (deciduous and coniferous);
- on the form of plants (freely growing and sheared);
- height (curb, medium and high);
- by the number of rows (one- and two-row).
Planting hedges: which plants to choose?
If you choose the height and the number of rows for the fence is not difficult, then it is more difficult to determine the types of plants. For these purposes, there is a large number of different bushes and trees and each option has its advantages and disadvantages. Now let us dwell on several types of plants for hedges:
- A hedge of fir. Most common use of ordinary and blue spruce. These conifers can be used to create both cropped and free growing types of hedges of medium height. A hedge of fir can also be a curb type. This option is often used for regular gardens to distinguish flower beds and flower beds, and apply to camouflage unattractive corners of the garden.
- A hedgerow of barberry. Evergreen and very prickly bush very well suited for creating a sheared fence of a curb type. Thanks to the thorns, the hedgerow from barberry easily copes with the role of a good fence. But to create such a fence you will need a very large amount of planting material.
- Consider trees that are suitable for a high hedge. The height of such a hedge can be from two to six meters. For its creation, maple, linden, beech, ornamental apple and plum trees are good. From coniferous you can pick tall thai or spruce, juniper will also look good.
